Coffee: good or bad for health?
Coffee has a long history and has survived numerous defamation and accusations that would cause many diseases. You'd be surprised how many studies show that this drink, cause cardiovascular disease and cancer. But according to recent research coffee is not as harmful as we might think. Yet the essential question remains: is ultimately good or bad? And the best answer: it does not seem to affect our health if consumed in moderation, indeed some studies show that is good in some situations.
• From where the good-bad confusion?
To get an idea of where started this confusion, we must consider two important studies. One was conducted on a sample of 128,000 people and shows that the habit of consuming coffee does not increase risk of heart disease. Even more another study published in the May 2006 publication of "Circulation" shows that not even count the amount of coffee that the study participants drunk it. On the other hand, another study of 4,000 consumers of coffee and was published in the Journal of the American Medical the Association "in the number of March 2006 show that 1-2 cups of coffee per day increases the risk heart disease in people with a certain genetic mutation that slows the effect of caffeine in the body.
Generally, a study may leave room for interpretation, which can lead to other conclusions. But if we consider very large number of participants in the study and who showed no risk after drinking coffee, we could interpret the results and considere that do not present a danger to health or that has very limited side effects and insignificant.
• Moderation is the key to health
Although there seem not to be harmful to health, however we must be aware that other beverages (milk and fruit) that contain important nutrients not found in coffee.
About other benefits that have coffee, some research has highlighted the fact that this drink can protect us from type 2 diabetes and colon cancer. Our opinion is not to rely solely on coffee to protect us from certain health problems, but to call the benefits they bring fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, dairy products and lean meats prepared healthy.
A cup of coffee after a balanced meal, can no way harm your body.
